Can i hire a van?

There are a few stipulations on our insurance you need to meet. Have a look at the list below.

However if you don’t meet some of these requirements you will still probably be able to rent a van, but you might have to pay a slightly higher excess. get in touch and we can give you a quote. Give us a ring on 01743 361229 or 07811 063489 for details.

• you are aged between 25 and 70 years of age.
• You have held a full UK or EU drivers license for more than two years.
• You have no more than six penalty points obtained for speeding related offences.
• You are a UK or EU citizen.
• You have had no claims or accidents within three years of the booking date.
• You have not been declined motor insurance or had a renewal refused or policy cancelled.
• You have not been subject to any special motor insurance terms imposed as a result of a claim.
• You do not have an occupation deemed as high risk by our insurer or are a student aged under 25.
• You do not suffer from any medical conditions that may affect your ability to drive. For example; stroke/deafness/heart condition/diabetes/loss of limb/loss of sight in an eye/epilepsy/medication.

 

How many people does the camper sleep?

The van will sleep 4-
2 downstairs on the rock and roll bed, and 2 ‘upstairs’ in the canvas.
An additional 2 can sleep in the drive away awning that has an interior sleeping compartment.
The drive away awning not only provides extra sleeping space but gives extra space for relaxing and storing the bulky items.
For travelling it is 2 up front and has seatbelts for 2 in the rear.

What will I need to bring?

Bedding- pillow, sleeping bag or duvet, please remember to bring a bottom sheet if you are using a duvet.
Towels.

We recommend travelling light. The less you take the more space/ less hassle you have!
Bedding and towels can be provided with the vehicle (if pre-arranged) for a cost of £15.00 per hire.

Please remember your ID. A driving license and passport or recent bill

 

What is it like to drive?

Just like a large car or mpv. It has a really handy mirror on the rear for parking and the automatic transmission makes it a lovely cruising machine.

What cooking facilities does the camper have?
It has a gas fuelled two ring stove, and a sink with running water for washing up.

Can we have the van delivered to our home?

It is possible, give us a ring.

Can we bring a pet?

Yes that is fine, there is a small additional charge of £15 for the extra cleaning and if we could ask that you cover the soft furnishings with blankets etc that would be great.

 

 

Insurance

Standard Excess- In the event of any damage to the vehicle or any third party property the hirer will be responsible for the first £500 of any insurance claim.

Insurance does not cover your possessions inside the vehicle, we would recommend taking travel insurance for this purpose.

Security Deposit

We require a security deposit of £500 paid by cash, cleared cheque, paypal (credit card).
This is fully refundable on return of the vehicle to the agreed location, at the agreed date and time, in a clean condition, with a full fuel tank.
You will be liable for any damage or missing items from the hire vehicle.

Our vans are strictly no smoking.

Depot

Shropshire Camper Hire is located at Coniston, linden Gardens, Belle Vue, Shrewsbury, Sy3 7ph

Local delivery of the van may be possible, please contact us for more information.

Collection and Return

Collection will be at the depot at the pre arranged time.
Please allow up to an hour for hand over, to complete documentation, a demonstration of the vans features/procedures and transfer of luggage.

Return will be at the depot at the pre arranged time.
Please ring us on 01743 361229 or 07811 063489 if you are going to be arriving back at a different time- you may be liable for extra charges if the van is brought back late.

Station Pick Up

We can pick you up from Shrewsbury Train Station if pre arranged for no extra cost.

Break down/accidents

Our hire vehicles are covered by AA roadside assistance. In the unlikely event of a breakdown contact ourselves then the AA for assistance. Shropshire Camper Hire will do our best to rectify or replace the hire vehicle. Therefore SCH dissolves all costs incurred by the hirer due to the consequential expenses subsequent to a breakdown. A refund will be given on a daily rate basis if a solution cannot be found.
In the event of an accident, do not admit any fault at the scene and SCH must be informed as soon as possible. No repairs must be undertaken without the permission of SCH.
The hirer is responsible for damage to tyres, windscreen and any damage to the roof. Maximum height is clearly displayed inside the vehicle.

Shropshire Camper Hire cannot be held responsible for any loss or consequential expense due to an accident or breakdown.

Speeding/ Parking Fines etc

As the hirer you are responsible for any fines during the hire period.

Fuel

The hire vehicles will be supplied with a full tank of fuel (diesel) and are to be returned with a full tank of fuel.
You will be charged for fuel and an administration charge of £10 if the hire vehicle is not returned with a full tank.

Gas

The hire vehicle is supplied with gas for the stove. It will have a full or part full gas bottle at the time of hire. If the gas runs out during the hire period you are authorised to replace it. Keep the receipt and you will be given a refund at the time you return the vehicle.

Car Storage

We can offer car storage during the hire period, if pre arranged. At your own risk.
